Frequently Asked Questions

General

What’s the difference between an assigner and a performer? Which one am I?
  • The assigner has assignments (or tasks) that he/she wants to outsource
  • The performer is looking for vacant assignments to execute
How is assigners.net different from any other “work from home” website?
  • Everything is project based (meaning there is a deadline of an end result)
  • Complete focus on end results. Thereby, extensively transparent. Everybody knows what is expected and what the compensation will be
  • No costs for performers and only costs for assigners when the results are delivered
  • An easy tool makes sure projects are build with a clear and professional focus on end results
What’s the purpose of the focusing on end results?

The assigner can specify exactly what the purpose and the features/characteristics of the end product should be. Meanwhile the performer knows exactly what he/she has to do before applying.

Focusing on end results instead of tasks turns out to be the most efficient way to avoid misunderstandings. Professional project managers (mainly in banks and governments) use sophisticated project management philosophies with the same approach. As this approach has been incorporated into the project creation tool, users don’t need to be project management specialists.

What’s the project creation tool?

This is only in the assigners section of the assigners.net. If an assigner creates a new project, he/she follow 9 steps in which the assigner specifies the purposes, features, etc. At the end of these steps a project is built with completely specified expected end results.

Before a performer applies for an assignment, he/she knows exactly what is expected from the end results. This way, misunderstandings are avoided and an easy controllable project is created. Also the control during project execution is hereby fixed.

Performers

What are the costs for performers?

Nothing; account creation, assignment searching, applications, transactions are all for free.

After finishing a project the money will be added in you assigners.net-account. Upon your request, we’ll transfer the money to your bank account.

All transactions are in euro. Meaning, if you have a European bank account with a valid IBAN code there are no transaction costs (depending on your own bank). Costs of transactions to accounts outside Europe depend on the situation.

How do I know for sure that I get paid for my work?

Because assigners.net is involved with the complete process and thereby controls all transactions.

Before you start the project, the vacancy specifies everything: features, purposes, deadlines, etc. The execution is separated into phases. At each phase end, the assigner needs to approve it. If he/she confirms, payment is obliged. If denied, it needs to be specified why and how to improve. If still denied, the assigner gets nothing either.

Assigners do not take the time to build a project to eventually get nothing. If you just read the vacancy carefully and make sure you can and will deliver what is specified, there is not much that can go wrong.

Do I have to pay taxes over the money I make through Assigners.net? And what about invoicing?

Invoicing
After you have executed an assignment, the assigner receives an invoice (this is obliged by tax regulations). Assigners.net will write this invoice on your behalf. After project fulfillment, you and the assigner receive this invoice. We recommend to hold on to this for your personal administration.

Taxes
If you are registered at your local chamber of commerce, please consult your own accountant to answer this question. Also please inform us through finance@assigners.net (with VAT and CC registration), as we have to consider this in the invoicing to the assigners.

If you are not registered at the chamber of commerce (most likely), The invoice we write on your behalf is suitable for ‘stand-alone’ tasks executed by individuals (instead of companies). This means, there is no VAT nor is there income taxes (because you are not employed) involved. At year-end, when you report your taxes, the money you earned through assigners.net is considered ‘other income’ by the tax agencies. Regulations can differ between local tax agencies. However, this is most common (in Europe).

What’s the project creation tool?

If you create a new project, you’ll follow 9 steps in which you specifies the purposes, features, etc. At the end of these steps a project is built with completely specified expected end results.

I know nothing about project management. Can I still build a good assignment?

Yes, thanks to the project creation tool. The tool forces you to specify what end result you expect. You only need to follow the steps.

However, we recommend looking at some of our examples before making your first project. Or perhaps even use an example as a starting point and make modifications (see 7).

I have tasks I want to put in a project. Are these suitable for assigners.net?

You can find examples of the most common project types, but also other types of projects are suitable.

Basically everything that is digitally transferable and for which you can set a fixed deadline is suitable.

What are the costs for assigners?

Account creation, project creation, candidate search, project control are all for free.

The end delivery of the project + transaction costs are charged after the project is completed in accordance with your specified requirements. Meaning performers are only paid after they have delivered. However, upon project start the total amount needs to be in your assigners.net-account.

Putting money into your assigners.net-account could involve banking costs. This depends on your payment method and bank.

How do I stay in control of the quality?

When you are creating your project, you will automatically create sub-deadlines (separated into phases). The elements of the project which are most essential for the quality are in the earliest phases.

Once the performer has finished a phase, he/she’ll let you know. You’ll check it, give feedback and only after everything is fine the performer starts the next phase.

This way, you can track the progress exactly as planned beforehand. You’ll notice issues immediately and the most important issues are noticed as early as possible.

How do I know for sure I’ll get the desired delivery?

If you build your project, the tool makes you specify exactly what end result you expect (including features and purposes).

You check yourself if the delivery meets these requirements (also for sub-deadlines/phases). If not, you’ll give feedback. Payment occurs upon product delivery (so after your feedback).

I have very similar projects. Do I need to completely rebuild each single project again?

No, you can build your own templates. Meaning, building a second (similar) project is done in less than a minute. If you go into an existing project you can make modifications and click “save as”. It could be useful to build one “base-project” with all the standard fixed elements and start each new project from here (by clicking “save as” after modifications).

It is even recommended to create your base-project out of one of the examples (most likely there is a similar one. If not, let us know!).

How about taxes? Will I receive an invoice from the performers job for my administration?

At month-end, you’ll receive two (types of) invoices. First, from assigners.net for its services (see prices and fees).

Second, on behalf of the performer (written by assigners.net).This concerns an invoice from a party with no Chamber of Commerce registration, nor a VAT-number. Meaning, for tax agencies this is consided as “paid amounts to third parties”. In the Netherlands, this is reported to the tax agency with form IB-47. Within Europe similar regulations are applicable.
